Allen Tupper True had a vast knowledge and sincere reverence for Native American culture. This image is just one in the series of five triptychs (15 murals) for the Colorado National Bank, now the Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center. These murals were in homage to the Native American culture he respected, and reflect a time before the arrival of the Europeans. This series was the culmination of years of research done by the artist and attempts to portray the trajectory of a single native person’s life through vignettes of life’s moments, conveying the scenes as “memories [that] exist in a dreamlike shroud.”
