I Am Andrew Goodman was created during the 2020 presidential election season to remind citizens of the importance of voting to make one’s voice heard. Weekes’ collage is one in a series reminding us to remember the past by addressing painful events in American history—in this case, the murder of civil rights worker Andrew Goodman, who was killed in 1964 with colleagues James Chaney and Michael Schwerner in Mississippi by members of the Ku Klux Klan.
