This work is an example of D’Andrea’s later style, with a technique that resembles the impressionist approach due to its loose brush strokes, while also bearing remnants of his expressionist days. The title, Pequest #2, refers to the Pequest River, a 35.7 mile tributary of the Delaware River in northwestern New Jersey. The painting dates to just before the artist’s first show in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
