Murray Tinkelman’s illustrations for The New York Times' Op-Ed page have been described by former Times Art Director Jean-Claude Suares as “imaginative, topical, and right for the publication.” Tinkelman’s political drawings are oblique, inspiring questions rather than answers. Through the use of symbolism in this work, which comments upon challenges to environment, he calls to mind the consequences of ecological damage. In creating works of social commentary, Tinkelman draws between the lines by constructing imagery that offers deeper consideration of the subject.
