Truly working for the printed page, Al Parker left a swatch of board unpainted in this graceful double page spread knowing that it would, in publication, be covered by Elizabeth Dunn’s text and a tag line that read, “Women are awfully important…at least to a brand-new jittery father, like Bill.” All emphasis is on the woman’s face, which is beautifully framed by boldly patterned pillows and the many diagonals that lead the viewer’s eye to the main subject.
