You will be taught primarily through studio-based illustration and animation projects of increasing complexity across the three years. Studio study is complemented by lectures and seminars in historical and contextual studies, professional practice and careers.
Year 1 aims to encourage an open-minded, flexible and exploratory approach within a supportive learning environment. You will be introduced to the key areas of illustration and animation – design, layout, conceptual development, image and text. Drawing, presentation, life and location projects are also included.
Year 2 is designed to give you the freedom and encouragement to explore different ways of communicating ideas, to help you discover your own direction, visually challenge convention and develop your personal initiative. You will work on projects that allow you to develop the widest possible approach to creating images, and will experience a range of media relevant to your project's aims.
Year 3 is concerned with the resolution of personal work with professional issues and awareness. You will concentrate mainly on selfinitiated projects, developing your creative skills to a high level and working towards the degree show exhibition. You will take part in selected national and international competitions, and develop professional portfolios and showreels.
